haters gonna hate…

I could write about SOPA, and megaupload, and all this bullshit surrounding the piracy of everything ever, but I thought I would take the time to mention a few key points about piracy:

1) I dont feel bad for celebs at all. When Jay z buys a fucking 600,000 dollar gold rocking horse and and a 3,000 sq ft bedroom for his barely one month old daughter, I have no problems about steeling his music at all. that’s right, his kid’s bedroom is possably larger than your whole fucking house and she cant even speak.

2) counterfeiting helps to boost economy and brand awareness as well as potentially create more innovative products in the future. If louis vuitton creates sunglasses that literally cost 700 dollars, the average person does not have the funds to make such an outrageous purchase, so they get the fakes. hey louis, that dude wasn’t going to buy your shitty 700 dollar glasses anyway, so your not loosing business. I LOVE RAY LEWIS but does he really loose sleep if I buy a fake jersey for 50 bucks instead of 300? the percentage he makes off genuine jerseys is 12%, a number so small it probably barely fills his rolls gas tank. Once a product has been knocked off, its a great reason to improve upon the products that exist and try to make them better. imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and helps to improve quality in the long run. maybe if we didn’t produce everything in china, it wouldn’t be knocked off so easily. serves us right.

3) replicas are dangerous and can be fatal. TRUE. EVERY YEAR THOUSANDS OF DEADLY AND POTENTIALLY FATAL COUNTERFEIT GOODS ARE CONFISCATED, INCLUDING VIAGRA, VODKA, AUTO PARTS, FOOD GOODS, AND ELECTRICAL WIRING. however, what they seem to sweep under the rug, is that every year thousands of GENUINE name brand products are also recalled due to faults in build, including but not limited to salminella chicken, lead paint in toys, and recalled auto parts and medicine. two weeks ago a popular name brand pill was recalled due to the fact that the bottles contained a cocktail of RANDOM PILLS!!!! WTF? real or fake, there will always be a lack of qc in a large selection of many products.

the point was not to support counterfeiting or decriminalize it, but more as a few food for thought pellets.
